Heritage of Ancient Free Gardeners

Join a historic fraternal society rooted in Scottish tradition and community spirit since 1676. Our ancient fraternity, one of the oldest friendly societies, draws inspiration from the Garden of Eden and the Book of Genesis, embodying the spirit of collective self-help and conviviality. Our rituals and ceremonies often incorporate biblical images, connecting our horticultural pursuits to ancient wisdom.

Our Rich Heritage

The Ancient Order of Free Gardeners, founded in 17th century Scotland, fosters community and tradition among professional gardeners, skilled workers, and horticultural enthusiasts across the globe. Our society has evolved from its roots in Scotland to become a respected conservation society, preserving both gardening traditions and mutual support systems. Many of our lodge buildings showcase elements of renaissance architecture, blending horticultural symbolism with classical design.

A Legacy of Brotherhood

Ancient Fleur De Lys Lodge No.1 holds the distinction of being established in December 2024, in Taguig City, located in the Republic of the Philippines. The Lodge's foundation is credited to Grand Master Rupert Corpuz, alongside three Worthy Brothers: Worthy Brothers Ferdinand Tablac, Ryan Ramos, and Manuel Rodriguez (The Founders). This lodge, like many in our order, serves as a charitable society and a hub for horticultural knowledge, offering support similar to a trade union for its members.

The Lodge's origins trace back to an initial institution by the Ancient Fleur De Lys Lodge No.4 of Scotland, operating under the auspices of the Ancient Order of Free Gardeners Scotland. However, demonstrating a spirit of self-governance, Ancient Fleur De Lys Lodge No.1 and its founding members eventually pursued an independent path. This led to the formation of their own Sovereign Grand Lodge, established under the Independent Ancient Order of Free Gardeners.

Further solidifying its connections within the broader fraternal landscape, the newly formed Sovereign Grand Lodge affiliated with Worthy Master Christian Roehrig of the Ancient Order of Free Gardeners in North America. This affiliation highlights a desire for collaboration and shared purpose with other Free Gardeners organizations.

A key figure in the Lodge's development is Worthy Master Rupert Corpuz. His dedication to the principles of the Free Gardeners is evidenced by his participation in the AOFG Research Society Seminar. This significant event, held in Canada and led by Worthy Master Christian Roehrig and PM Giovanni Grippo, provided an opportunity for in-depth study of Free Gardeners' traditions. Notably, Worthy Master Corpuz was the only Filipino attendee at this gathering. He then implemented this knowledge within their Lodge.

The dedication to these principles has seemingly yielded positive results. Ancient Fleur De Lys Lodge No.1 has reportedly experienced growth, marked by an increase in its membership. This suggests that the Lodge's activities and focus resonate with individuals in the community. A significant accord, the Special Treaty of Amity, has been formalized, marking a new chapter for the Free Gardeners. Worthy Master Rupert Corpuz of Independent Ancient Order of Free Gardeners. played a pivotal role, engaging with key figures from across the globe.

The treaty involved Worthy Chairman Alexander Griesbach of the Ancient Order of Free Gardeners Germany between the Independent Ancient Order of Free Gardeners. Further strengthening this international collaboration were Worthy Master Nathaniel Clayton of Ancient Order of Free Gardeners Alberta North America, Worthy Master Arsene Kibukila of the East Africa Flowers Lodge, affiliated with the International Order of Free Gardeners, and Worthy Master Christian Lear Miqiabas of the Grand Lodge of Free Gardeners Philippines.

This collaborative endeavor has culminated in the establishment of the International Confederation of Free Gardeners, a testament to the unified vision and commitment of these leaders, furthering our mission as a respectable society dedicated to horticultural pursuits and mutual aid.
